- What you did and what happened, and whether it was in the Mac app or on the website.
- If the problem is in the Mac app, the AbstractIMG app version and your macOS version.
- The artwork name, if it relates to one artwork.
Please do not send passwords or private files we do not need. The Privacy policy explains how support email is handled.
Requirements
The Mac app needs macOS 14 or later and an internet connection to load the catalog and artwork images.
Choosing a wallpaper
How do I find and apply a wallpaper?
Browse the thumbnails or search by title, color, category or description. Select an artwork and wait for its large preview to load, then choose Apply Wallpaper.
What does Next Random do?
Next Random picks another artwork to preview. It does not change your desktop until you choose Apply Wallpaper.
Which screen changes?
Apply Wallpaper changes the selected display. macOS applies the picture to that display's current Space; changing every Space is not promised.
Image quality
The app applies each artwork's prepared 4K image. Some prepared images are upscaled from smaller originals. Each artwork's page on abstractimg.com shows its source dimensions and provenance.
Daily Rotation
How does Daily Rotation work?
Daily Rotation is optional and off by default. Open Daily Rotation, choose a local time and display, then turn on Change wallpaper daily. The first change happens at the next future occurrence of that time, not immediately.
Will the same wallpaper repeat?
Rotation draws from the full catalog and does not repeat an artwork until every artwork in the cycle has been used. Then a new cycle starts. The history is kept when the app restarts.
What does Rotate Now do?
Rotate Now applies a new artwork immediately. Your daily schedule stays the same.
What if a scheduled change fails?
The app keeps your current wallpaper, retries a limited number of times and otherwise waits for the next scheduled day. The last problem is shown in Daily Rotation.
Keeping rotation running
Does the app need to stay open?
Yes. When Daily Rotation is on, closing the window keeps AbstractIMG running in the menu bar. Choose AbstractIMG there to reopen the window. Quitting the app stops rotation until you open it again.
What happens after sleep or if the app was closed?
If a scheduled change was missed while your Mac was asleep or the app was not running, the app catches up once when your Mac wakes or the app reopens. It does not apply one wallpaper for every missed day.
How do I open the app at login?
Turn on the separate Open at Login switch. If macOS asks for approval, follow the app's prompt to Login Items in System Settings. Open at Login cannot wake a sleeping or powered-off Mac.
Displays
If the display chosen for Daily Rotation is disconnected, rotation waits instead of changing a different screen. To use another display, choose it in Daily Rotation.
Network and preview problems
If the catalog or a preview does not load, check your internet connection and choose Try Again. The app checks each downloaded image and does not apply one that fails verification, so your current wallpaper stays in place. The catalog is not available offline.
Removing app data
If you no longer use the app, turn off Change wallpaper daily and Open at Login, then quit AbstractIMG. Choose a different desktop picture in macOS System Settings before removing any prepared wallpaper files. Deleting the app may leave its data on your Mac; email support@abstractimg.com for guidance on removing it. The Privacy policy lists what the app stores.
