This policy explains what the AbstractIMG website at abstractimg.com and the AbstractIMG app for Mac store, send and receive. The two work differently, so each has its own section. For help using the app, see Support.

Who we are

AbstractIMG is the name of this website and the Mac app. In this policy, "we" means AbstractIMG. For privacy questions or requests, email support@abstractimg.com.

AbstractIMG for Mac

The app does not require an account. It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not generate images on request, and it does not upload your images, files or other content.

Stored on your Mac

The app keeps the following in its own macOS sandbox container on your Mac:

  • Settings, including your Daily Rotation schedule and the display you chose for rotation, saved as a macOS display identifier.
  • Rotation history: the artworks already used in the current rotation cycle.
  • Wallpaper files prepared for your desktop.
  • Cached artwork previews and 4K images, which macOS may clear.

The app does not upload these settings, history, display identifiers or files.

Sent over the internet

To show and apply wallpapers, the app downloads the public AbstractIMG catalog and the artwork images you choose, or that Daily Rotation picks, from abstractimg.com over HTTPS. Each request identifies the public file being fetched. The app does not send cookies, your searches, your rotation settings or history, or display details with these requests. Hosting and connection data explains what any request reveals.

Permissions

The app uses the macOS App Sandbox with outgoing network access. It does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or Photos library. It changes your desktop picture only when you choose Apply Wallpaper or Rotate Now, or when Daily Rotation runs.

Opening the website

Choosing to view an artwork on abstractimg.com opens your web browser. That visit is covered by the website section below.

abstractimg.com website

The website has no accounts and no advertising. Its own code includes no analytics or tracking scripts. It does not offer interactive AI image generation.

The website's own code does not set cookies or save persistent browsing preferences. To restore your place when you use Back and Forward, pages keep a small record in that tab's history. It stays in your browser and is not uploaded.

When you view or download an artwork, your browser requests that page or image file. Downloaded images are saved on your device and remain there until you delete them.

Hosting and connection data

abstractimg.com, including the catalog and images used by the Mac app, is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web request, each request from the app or your browser reveals the address and artwork requested, your IP address, the time, and standard connection details sent by your browser or the app.

Cloudflare processes this connection data to deliver the service and protect it from abuse, under its applicable terms and the Cloudflare privacy policy. How long such records are kept is governed by the Cloudflare services in use and their policies, so we do not promise a fixed retention period. Service providers may process data in countries other than your own.

To ask about access to or deletion of data related to your use of AbstractIMG, email support@abstractimg.com. Some technical records cannot be linked to a particular person without additional information.

Email support

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name or contact details in the message, the message itself and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer support and privacy requests, not for marketing.

Cloudflare Email Routing forwards support messages to our Gmail inbox. Cloudflare and Google handle message contents and delivery information to provide these email services. See the Cloudflare privacy policy and Google privacy policy for their practices.

We keep support messages only as long as needed to resolve your request, follow up and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your messages, subject to those obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for cross-site tracking or advertising. Service providers, such as hosting and email, process information as needed to provide their services.

Your choices and removing local data

Mac app

  • Daily Rotation is optional and off by default. You can turn off Change wallpaper daily at any time.
  • Quitting the app stops rotation until you open it again.
  • Open at Login is a separate switch. You can also remove AbstractIMG from Login Items in macOS System Settings.
  • Prepared wallpaper files stay on your Mac after use. Before removing them, choose a different desktop picture in macOS System Settings.
  • Deleting the app may leave its sandbox data on your Mac. Contact support for guidance on removing it.
  • We cannot see the data stored on your Mac. Support can review only the information you choose to send.

Website

  • You can clear anything your browser stores for abstractimg.com in your browser's site data settings.
  • Downloaded images remain in your downloads location until you delete them.
